Our favorite hobby involves growing leftovers in the kitchen and planting vegetables or herbs in the garden. It’s incredibly exciting especially during winter and springtime. Most vegetables in the supermarket will grow quickly in water or soils.

20 fruits and vegetables you can replant and re-grow from scraps
You may wonder why some common vegetables are re-grown out of discarded materials when you start growing them. It is a big savings if you start a new plant or grow a vegetable. Using plant roots as a tool can be used for growth. It can also be used for reducing food waste at home. Here is the usual vegetable (and herbal) you can ripen from scrap materials –

This is also a very important method to be able to enjoy all the food on the homestead. Seeding shouldn’t go out the drain. Some are able to consume alongside the main food yields from the plants mentioned.

Regrow scallions aka green onions from kitchen scraps in water
Lets learn a simple method of growing green onions in water or soil. That’s really simple! Scallions are a simple, fun and satisfying meal. We have grown large bunches in pots mainly from small roots which we have removed from the plant.
(Through fan) Leave a little up to two inches over the roots and place them into the water if needed. Within an entire month, you’ve sliced green onions. When sliced, green onion shoots continue to grow. ( Tasty season)
Regrow onion tops
Bulb onions such as yellow or green onions can be grown with scrap material easily. Cut 1′′ thick onion from its rind. Place it on damp soil or on the surface below water and keep it in water if necessary for drainage.

A simple bulb can be made up from discarded items such as yellow onions. Simply remove 1 inch pieces from the onion and place them in the ground with trimmed edges over the water or with sand in the ground on the top.
It soon begins to regenerate roots that grow on soil. It is possible to put onion in water so it grows in your hair! Then it is possible to grow inside a garden.
Even more easier to grow compared to potatoes. The potato has no need to hunt any eye. Typically it is best to plant whole sweet potato. To produce multiple plants, you need cut up half of sweet potatoes and swivel with toothpicks in a small bowl filled with water.
Root and sprouting will start growing within a matter of days. If the seed grows to a size of 4 inches, put it in a jar with water. When roots reach a little more than a foot in length, then they can be planted into soil in a garden or large container.
Carrots Beets and Other Root Crops

Cut off stalk at the bottom of celery leaves about 1 inch in width and place white base into shallow water. No submersion. Within a couple of days roots will sprout from the base while leaf growth begins from the top.
After a month or so, it’s ok to plant on the soil with the leaf above. It will grow until your celery is harvested. Remember celery is a cold weather crop so plant outside in the spring to prevent a cold summer.
Basil, Cilantro and other herbs
Regenerating herbs, especially basils, is quite easy. Cut a 4-inch stem into water. Please ensure leaves don’t submerge in water. Install the stem in an open spot in the brightest light but away from direct sun. Look for root formation soon.
So long as this root is about one centimeter long, you can plant this in the soil as soon as you like it. Within a couple of hours you’ll have an amazing herb garden.
Try growing another onion in the middle if the onion is too short to cut and throw the roots out. Plant roots on potting soil, place them in an open porch, keep them watering and watch them grow.
The green onion will soon be growing back. Within 2 weeks it is too tall to get the bottom sliced up for eating. So now plant it up for enjoyment!
It is possible to recycle discarded mushroom plants, albeit a bit harder. Mushrooms thrive in warm rooms with high humidity.
